Galatians 3 – Faith

Faith.

Without Christ, our faith in Him would not be valid. But because Christ did die on the cross for our sins, our faith in Him is valid. According to the Easton’s Bible Dictionary, this is what is called a saving faith. Meaning, it has eternal life connected with it.

John 3:16 perfectly summarizes what the saving faith is.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (emphasis mines)

Only through Jesus’ Son is eternal life made available, but we have to believe in Him with faith in order to truly accept it. As Paul said, “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith (Gal. 3:26; emphasis mines).”

Now, I want to talk about the per se “regular” faith.

Also in the Easton’s Bible Dictionary, it says that the main idea of faith is trust. That makes sense because putting your faith in someone or something means that you trust the subject won’t do you harm.

I know that many non-Christians are confused about how Christians can believe in God. I completely understand their confusion because no one can actually see God. Thus, that is why we must walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). However, even though we can’t physically see Him, we can see what He does.

You know, every creation has a creator because nothing can just be created on its own. If you think about it, that even dates back to when the earth was first created.

Many scientists believe that the Big Bang caused the earth to form. But, if there was a ‘big bang,’ who created that bang? It couldn’t have just come out of nowhere because nothing was created at the time. Therefore, if there was a bang, it would’ve had to been created by God, who was the only being alive.

So what’s my point?

My point is that only through faith can anyone truly believe in God. We mustn’t get so caught up in what we can or can’t see, but more so the work that has been done.

Faith requires believing and despite not seeing God, the Scriptures are a justification of Christ’s existence. If we trust the Word of God and believe that it’s truth, then we can believe in Him, but only through faith.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ~ Hebrews 11:6

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ~ Galatians 2:20

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. ~ 1 Peter 1:8-9

To God be the glory,
